Operation Refuge
Every child deserves a chance to flourish into their best selves, and Operation Refuge is dedicated to providing unique opportunities through several youth programs. This organization works hard to show children everything that’s available to them, so they can change what it means to be in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) field.
If you’d like to learn more about how this organization dedicates itself to children in need, let us introduce you to some of their programs today.
Welcome to Camp Inspire
One of the more helpful programs offered through Operation Refuge is Camp Inspire. This summer camp is designed for girls in 5th through 12th grade and focuses on STEAM activities.
Each activity is designed to serve as an introduction to a specific STEAM field with the hope of sparking inspiration to learn more about each field. Research has shown that while women make up about half of college-educated workers, they make up only about 29% of the science and engineering workforce. In order to change that, Camp Inspire is here to show girls the wonders of science.
Mother’s Pantry
One of the most important parts of a good childhood is access to healthy food. Nobody should grow up dealing with food insecurity, so to help children in need, Mother’s Pantry is here to help. This is a client’s choice food pantry, which is a food pantry that allows clients to pick the food they want, so they can meet their unique needs.
This pantry has gone a long way toward helping people within the community get the food they need and it’s all thanks to contributions from people in the area. If you’d like to help out this food pantry, consider donating some of your food today!
Volunteer Opportunities
Are you interested in taking a proactive step toward improving your community? A great way to get started is by looking into volunteer opportunities. Operation Refuge is always looking for people who can lend a hand to help them out with their work in town, so there are plenty of ways you can help out.
There’s always a need for people who can help with fundraising and data entry. Mother’s Pantry can also always use more people who can stock shelves and collect food from donors. You can also join up as an event planner, so you can work to decide which fundraising events will be held each year.
If you’re an expert in your field, perhaps consider running a youth workshop through Camp Inspire. By working as a mentor for children, you can make your mark on history in inspiring kids in their careers.
