2021 Ram 1500 Maximum Towing Capacity and Engine Options

When properly equipped, the 2021 Ram 1500 has a maximum towing capacity of 12,750 pounds through the 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine that features eTorque Mild Hybrid Technology. This engine is also capable of producing up to 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.

Several other engines are available that also produce some impressive performance and towing capabilities. The standard 3.6L PentaStar® V6 engine, for example, can deliver up to 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. When you hitch up your trailer, you can tow up to 7,730 pounds when properly equipped.

The regular 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine is also available, this time without the eTorque technology, but it can still produce the same 410 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque. Towing comes in a little lower, but is still impressive with 11,610 pounds of potential.

Another available engine is the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6. With it, you’ll enjoy up to 260 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. Plus, it delivers an impressive 12,560 pounds of towing capability. For the most amped-up power, you’re going to want to turn to the 6.2L Supercharged HEMI® V8, which can deliver an amazing 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.

2021 Ram 1500 Multifunction Tailgate

The Ram 1500’s available Multifunction Tailgate is a unique upgrade that will provide you with plenty of ways to organize cargo and further utilize available space. Holding up to 2,000 pounds of weight when folded down, the doors can also swing open in a 60/40 split fashion. This way, you will be able to reach into your truck bed with much more ease. Also, the available center bed step will allow you to climb into the bed space to reach cargo in the back.

Another unique upgrade that is available is the RamBox® Cargo Management System. This system comes with two storage bins on either side of the bed and a 115-volt auxiliary outlet to plug in certain electrical equipment.
