At Peace Guidance Services
When you look at the night sky, it’s hard to focus on one single star. It is the sparkling of millions of galaxies and planets that make up the beauty of the night—just like you. You are not one thing but a constellation of different experiences and personality quirks.
If you’ve been feeling like you’re not shining so brightly, it could be time to look into therapy. At Peace Guidance Services is here to help you get back to your usual brightness with their team of licensed professional therapists.
You can learn more about them on their Psychology Today practice page.
What is a Therapist?
It’s understandable if you don’t know what a therapist is beyond their depiction in popular media. In reality, it takes a lot of hard work to become a therapist and even more work to remain one. To be a licensed therapist, you’ll need a doctorate degree from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association.
This course includes a 2,000-hour internship to graduate, and post-graduation, a therapist needs another 2,000 hours of supervised clinical experience. And that’s all before they take the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology administered by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards. Only after all this can a therapist be licensed, which is a requirement in Michigan.
What Do They Specialize In?
At Peace Guidance Services specializes in four main areas:
- Trauma and Abuse
- Child and Teen
- Anxiety and Depression
- Family
The team of licensed professional therapists strives to create a calming atmosphere for their patients and build a relationship of trust so you can be comfortable telling them what is bothering you. They want every client to be an active participant in their own therapy, so it is not a one-sided diagnosis but a productive conversation.
What About Insurance?
When you’ve decided to make an appointment, the next important step is to check and make sure your therapist is in your insurance network. At Peace Guidance Services accepts a wide range of providers, and the complete list is located conveniently on their website. You can check the list before you book your appointment, and then use their online scheduling form.
