Performance Specs

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator is a powered by a 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine that gets up to 285 horsepower. It comes with standard four-wheel drive and uses that power to tow up to 7,650 pounds. That’s enough power to tow your boat to the lake or bring a camper on your next off-road adventure. To manage that power, you’ll have a 6-speed manual transmission, but an 8-speed automatic is also available.

The Toyota Tacoma offers two engines, but neither of one them offers as much power. The standard 2.7L 4-cylinder gets just 159 horsepower and offers a towing capacity of only 3,500 pounds. A 3.5L V6 is also available, but with 278 horsepower, it can only tow up to 6,800 pounds.

While all-wheel drive is available on the Toyota Tacoma, rear-wheel drive comes standard. It also comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, but the available automatic only offers 6-speed.

Capability

The Jeep Gladiator is designed to go anywhere. Whether you’re dealing with a snowstorm, summer showers, or going off-roading, it’ll keep you safe and in control. Four-wheel drive comes standard, but you’ll get to choose between a couple of 4x4 systems.

The Command-Trac® system splits torque evenly between the front and rear axles and switches between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive when conditions call for it. Rock-Trac® features extra low gears, so you can crawl over steep rocks and slippery terrain.

In addition to its versatile 4x4 systems, the Gladiator is always prepared with tough steel bumpers, Fox® shocks, and Tru-Lok® front and rear electronic-locking differentials. This gives the Gladiator a high ground clearance, so you can attack hills with a 40.8-degree approach angle.

The Toyota Tacoma also offers Fox® shocks and electronic-locking differentials. While there are some useful drivetrain features available, it comes with standard rear-wheel drive. It also sits closer to the ground and only has a 29-degree approach angle.

Amenities

Both SUVs offer a comfortable ride with premium amenities. For example, you can quickly warm up in the winter with heated seats and an available heated steering wheel. Cloth seats come standard, but leather upholstery is offered inside each cabin.

The Jeep Gladiator gives you more options to choose from though. It gives you the freedom to personalize your truck with options like removable doors and a folding windshield. You’ll even get to choose between a removable hard top roof and a Sunrider® soft top.
