5 Tire Care Tips You Should Always Follow

Tires are an essential component of your car, and it is important to make sure they are in good shape. It can be hard to tell how well your tires are doing by simply looking at them, which is why it’s important to follow these five tire care tips.

1) Check Tire Pressure Regularly

Check your tire pressure regularly, especially if you’re doing a lot of driving. Under-inflated tires can cause premature wear and tear on the tread and sidewalls, leading to costly repairs down the road. In addition, under-inflated tires can also impact your fuel economy. Over-inflated tires can be just as bad, leading to decreased traction and a shorter lifespan for your tires.

Find the recommended PSI printed on the side of your tires. Use a tire gauge to measure the pressure and compare it to the recommended level. If it’s below, inflate the tire to the proper level. If it’s above, deflate until you hit that ideal pressure number on your gauge.

2) Check Your Tire’s Wear Pattern

The tread will eventually wear down, and it’s important to keep an eye on it, so you know when it’s time for a new set. You can check the wear pattern of your tires by placing a penny into the tread with Lincoln’s head pointing down. If you can see all of Abe’s head, your tread depth is too low, and it will not provide enough traction to drive safely on wet or snowy roads. It’s time for a new set. You should replace these tires without delay because they’re just waiting for something bad to happen when the road gets slippery.

3) Rotate the Tires

It’s advisable to rotate your tires every six months, even if they don’t appear to be wearing down. This will help them wear evenly and prolong their life. Rotating the tires also ensures that you have enough traction in all weather conditions. Consult your car’s owner’s manual for specific instructions on how to rotate your tires.

4) Tires Need to be Aligned

To keep your tires in good condition, ensure they’re always aligned. This helps them wear evenly and lengthens their life. It also ensures that your car drives smoothly and safely in all types of road conditions, reducing the risk of accidents.

5) Don’t Overload Your Vehicle

Another thing you should never do is overload your vehicle. This can cause strain on the suspension and make it difficult for the tires to maintain traction with the road, especially in bad weather conditions like rain and snow. Be sure that all items (including the spare tire) are securely fastened before driving off.

Tires are an important part of your vehicle’s safety, performance, and longevity. They need to be checked regularly for wear or damage that could lead to dangerous driving conditions.
